History and Accurate Positions for the NGC/IC Objects (Corwin 2004)

IC 1713 is a star. CGCG put the number on NGC 587, but Bigourdan measured that galaxy on the same night as he did I1713, so they cannot be identical. In addition, Bigourdan's position is within a quarter of an arcsec of the DSS position of the star, and he was not at all sure about the existence of nebulosity around his object. This is another identification that Malcolm Thomson cleaned up for us.
