1994-03-09 22:30 Die Boord. Observing with a 6-inch f/8.6 Newtonian at 52x. This cluster makes up one point of a one-degree Crux-shaped grouping in Vela. From north to south these are Wa 6, Pi 6, Pi 8, anon. 8th mag star. Wa 6 appears as nothing more than an even right-angled triangle of three stars, with a fainter star along the one side.
Location: Polokwane
16-inch f/10 SCT (127x 290x)
What a lovely group of only a few stars but with character. A double, double star point an arrow towards the south-west of the field, with fainter members going out in a swing towards the north-east. The magnitude 11 north-west member displays a striking yellow colour.
