Size: 3.467′ x 2.63′
NGC 6951 = NGC 6952, which see.
The RNGC (Sulentic and Tifft 1973) notes that this is a 12.0 mag galaxy. Their coded description reads SB,BM,ODIFARMS,BBAR.
This galaxy appears on page 46 of "The Hubble Atlas of Galaxies" by Allan Sandage (1961, Washington, DC).

Tom Lorenzin, in the e-version of "1000+ The Amateur Astronomers' Field Guide to Deep Sky Observing", notes: "12.3M; 3.5'x 2.5' extent; soft and oblong; bright (13M) stellar nucleus; 10.5M star 2.5' E of core; see photos at BCH-I-618 and HAG-46."
15cm - mod f and vsm @ 80x. 140x: 15" diam w/strong even concen to *ar nuc.
occas se sub*ar spot N side and close on S (btwn gx and m14 * S). BS,
15cm - mod br but modlosfcbr @ 80x. m12.5 * off E side and another W of center.
140x: difficult to sort out what's happening. m12.5 * is def outside gx, but halo seems to extend W a long ways asymmetrically from center. wk concen except at sm ~circ core, which has sub*ar center and m14 *(?) on its W side. another knot occas glimpsed WSW nr edge. halo oval, 2'x1'.2, elong roughly E-W. mod *ry fld. BS, 8Sep1991, Anderson Mesa.
25cm - elong pa70. on E is m13 *. oval, sm elong core. averted vis shows f halo 1'.25x0'.75. fairly f.
30cm - found 1'.2 W of m13 *. elong pa110. bright m13.5 nuc fades rapidly to f halo, 1'.5x0'.9. vsl brtr core. not well concen.
