Synonyms: H II-764

Discovered in 1788 by William Herschel with an 18.7-inch f/13 speculum telescope. He called it "pB, S, iR, one preceding suspected, vF, lE."

Sulentic & Tifft (1973)

The RNGC (Sulentic and Tifft 1973) notes that this is a 12.5 mag galaxy. Their coded description reads E,R,BM.

center w/*ar nuc. 125x. BS, 6Jun1981, Slate Mtn.

25cm - circ halo 1'.25 diam. core vbr in pa90, *ar nuc. Roof.

- sl elong pa100, 0'.75x0'.6. W side of core seems brtr, core not well

defined from halo. core is half the diam of halo. f *ar nuc. 190x. BS,

6Jun1981, Slate Mtn.

30cm - easy, more concen of pair (w/-085). 1'.2 diam, pa135. halo circ.
